Endgame ROM for Scisys

Post by Larry »

Image

Has anyone else here got one of these things? I see in the instructions
it says the endgame rom is factory inserted in the 8mhz analyst module.
Otherwise, it's intended for the Stratos and Turbo King. Turbo King II
also has it factory included, as I remember.
It holds a database for K+P vs K
K+P vs K + P
K +2P vs K + P( provided on pair of pawns
are blocked)
Good technology for it's day. I don't know how much they cost new,
but probably too much, that's why they are rare.

PS I tried one in a TurboStar432, but it would'nt work

I read that this Endgame ROM slows calculating speed of chess computer during a whole game and its better to take it out from.

Yes, I'm inclined to believe that. The program has to continually check
the ROM for a move, and only when it does not find one does it start
calculating. It's equivalent to an underclock, you might say.
