Sadly...another Ebay auction ends abruptly..
this time for a Fidelity CC1
the seller closes the auction to sell to the current high bidder..but i am sure the real price is much higher then we see

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=019

how many CC1's have there been recently?
i think in the last month alone about 5?
i think this year alone perhaps 25-30?

More Dishonor Regards

Steve:
The person who bought it holds the top 2 records of highest price obtained for a CC1 in Ebay auctions. Expect another auction coming up soon from the buyer !

He probably bought it for the box :D

best regards

aha!
and we will no doubt see this buyer announcing on all of the schachcomputer forums that by some miracle he came across yet another CCI that he will graciously out of the goodness of his heart sell to whomever is interested in it

With the Run up to Xmas in full swing...Ebay has the typical spate of offerings with sellers that have no idea what chess is let alone how to set up the starting position

here are some current auctions..

the Classic Checkers Formation..

http://cgi.ebay.com/Schach-Computer_W0Q ... 0195956184

the well known 90 degree shift ...(generally caused by nearby Seismic activity):
http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-CHESS-CHALL ... 0193911858

even a computer as strong as the Resurrection I is not spared from the dreaded N-B reversal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mephisto-Exclusive- ... 0196413961

while not a starting position ...i think this opening is called the "Triangle Gambit"

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sprechender-Schachc ... 0195105392

and of course no listing would be complete without the well known K-Q Cross Dressing start position

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fidelity-Electonics ... 0194315752

Clueless Regards

So finally when a seller says "I know nothing about chess therefore I cannot tell you if the computer works or not", I should not always read "this computer does not work but I want to try to sell it for a higher price" ?

but I'll always stay away of such auctions anyway regards,

Alain

sometimes you can repair a broken computer.
i made this experience twice so far.
i bought a broken sparc-module and a few days ago a broken
chessmaster diamond (east germany) dedicated chess computer.

i was able to repair them both with the help of my friends.

ok this HAS to take the cake as the goofiest auction i have seen in a long time.. certainly the prize winner for 2007

you are actually asked..NOT TO BID

this guy has a set of Mephisto Exclusive pieces...
and he wants to sell them..one piece at a time ..and he wants you to email him instead of bidding
he seems very proud that he has already "sold" one black pawn
:P

http://cgi.ebay.com/MEPHISTO-CHESS-COMP ... 0197804110

i wonder what the Ebay staff would think of someone using Ebay to advertise a private sale?
suppose i bid anyway ..i win and the seller complains to Ebay that what?
i didnt read his instructions and that his intention was to go around Ebay and i was warned not to bid and only email him?
:P

My Goodness Regards

both computers are defective..both are Elite Avante Guardes
the question is...
is the defect something simple to repair or something more complex?

one or both of them could even be the legendary Elite Premiere

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fidelity-Elite-Ches ... 0181018603

Feeling Lucky Regards?

Yeah, I saw this one this morning. Nothing said about original boxes or
pieces. And as you say, it depends what is wrong with them. They could
have been cooked with wrong adaptors. Regarding the version numbers,
can't you just ask him for more details?
hope you're enjoying a nice Christmas break
Larry
PS If you are interested, just ask him exactly what happens when you
plug them in.
