Palm Hiarcs 13.1 defeats MChess Pro 8 in a Match !

Post by RadioSmall »

Although Andy has had matches putting Mchess Pro 8 against Modern Software , this is the first time that Mchess Pro 8 has played Hiarcs on the Palm Computing platform .M Chess Pro 8 was running on my laptop which is a dual Core 1.83 gigahertz Machine running Windows XP (The last OS that Mchess runs on) .Of course MChess 8 can use only 1 Core as no MP version of Mchess has ever been released .Also I was not able to increase the Hash Size of MChess 8 from the default 640 kb to the max of 60 MB .Palm Hiarcs 13.1 running on my Palm Tungsten C (X scale 400 mhz) .
Palm Hiarcs won with 2 wins one loss and 3 draws .All games are hand played at a time control of 40 moves in 2 hours followed by 20 moves in 1 hour repeating if neccessary with no Sudden Death.Everything was default for both programs besides the fact that both books were on variety option to avoid games which begin only with 1.e4 and 1.d4. I believe this actually increased the strength of both programs somewhat. There were rumors of a new Mchess coming out , does anybody know what ever happened to that ?!! Palm Hiarcs has overcome quite a Nodes per second factor in this Match as Mchess got 300,000 NPS in middle games but Palm Hiarcs got about 7000 NPS a factor of about 43.
Diagrams follow after the PGN , Enjoy these amazing games:

Nice to see Hiarcs on the old Palm devices can still hack it even when the nps rate is heavily against it.
Best wishes,
Mark

a new match Hiarcs vs M-Chess started....

Post by Alibaba »

Hi,

i started a match with Hiarcs 13.3 running on iPhone 4 using tournament book vs M-Chess Pro 7.1 running on i7 2600. Now M-Chess can use 60 MB for hash and using its standard book....
Time control is 90min + 30s

1. Game of the match is running at the moment with live broadcast on chessbase server...

Enjoy the game!

Hello, I take that Mark has entered the conversation, asking if Palm Hiarcs 13.1 series will be improved, for example with a version 13.2, adding a new algorithm (eg the number 12.3), or removing the lock deep 18. thanks
