Paris 2011 Dedicated Chess Computer Tournament

Post by Steve B »

The Premiere Dedicated Chess computer tournament of the year will take place in two weeks..May 15 2011
This Years event will have a maximum Elo of 1900

one very nice thing about the Paris Tournaments is that the participants all try to pick a computer that has a different programmer so that a full spectrum of engines are represented
this years event holds true to that fine sporting tradition with 9 different programmers represented

i shall be operating the very rare Conchess Victoria Plymate which was the last computer Conchess ever released for sale

as can be seen from the list of entrants ..Queen Victoria is in the lower end of the Elo field a good 125+ Elo weaker then the higher seeded computers

However ..i have played a few practice games against some of the higher seeds and ..well..lets just say i was pleasantly surprised at the results
:P

Hi Steve, What version you will play the tournament. Version 5.5, 6 or 8 MHz?

I think this machine can get into the top 4.

Turbo king II regards

Hi Eric

Queen Victoria runs at 6 mhz
a Conchess T8 module casing was used for the program upgrade so it is not 8mhz

top 4 is not good enough for me
i want either last place(2009)
OR
first place(2010)

:P

Yes Ricardo
i remember.. but i do not count 2008 because it was my first Paris tournament and i was a little bit nervous so i finished 7th place out of 8 players
i missed last place by only 1/2 a point
in 2009 i was much more familiar with the tournament and i was able to capture last place with relative ease

Virgin Regards

The tournament is this Sunday May 15th
however..i shall be playing my first round game on Saturday May 14th Vs Alain Zanchett'a Super Mondial which will have the white pieces
game will be at 7:00am my time..13:00 Playchess Server time

This will enable me to join the tournament on Sunday during the second round.. which is at 5:30 am( My time.)
if i had to play the first round on Sunday it would be at 4:00 am
waaay too earlier for Victoria who needs her Beauty Sleep

whatever the result on Saturday..Queen Victoria will be quite satisfied as
she will either be in first place ..or last place
or tied for first-last
