PS I used to have two Polgar5 module sets, sold one privately to someone

I am up a pawn but whom am i to refuse a draw against an opponent rated in the high 1900's ?

i am of course happy to draw .,but on the other hand.. i wonder if the computer is really fixed since it allowed a wood pusher such as myself off easy with a draw?

Mixed Emotions Regards

Steve, perhaps you can refer me to the place that fixed your Polgar. My dedicated board appears to be working fine, but it's consistently beating me. :)

Positive that the problem is not skill-related regards,

:P
Actually Dave...
the Polgar is one of the few chess computers where you can adjust the Playing Strength downward by Elo
did i fail to mention that in the game i drew i set the Polgar's Elo to 1135?

Nah...i let it got go at full strength
i can report that the Polgar 5 beat me handily in the next few games so i guess its working just fine
i would post those games as well but for some strange reason i lost them..

Shameless Regards

Hi Steve,
Glad you fix your polgar. On polgar you can adjust the selective search and brute force algorithim; doing this it can even play over 2000 elo.

polgar regards

Did not know machines could lose by time forfeit. Some of them when they have few seconds left play any move. Anyway great performance against polgar 5 Mhz. Try now against polgar 10 Mhz.

more polgar regards

i was joking Ricardo
its easy to win on time forfeit if the computer is defective and will not power up
you set up the board.. ..make your first move....start the clock.. and wait until the 5 minutes are up..then you declare yourself the winner when the computer's flag falls first
:P

setting up a 5 minute Blitz game ..Steve B vs Polgar 10 Regards

The Polgar 10 searches twice as fast as the Polgar 5 and it has the rating to show for it,tipping the scales at 70 Elo higher with a rating of 2034

[Date "2011.8.20"]
[White "Steve B"]
[Black "MEPHISTO Polgar 10"]
[TimeControl "5 Min Blitz-"]

1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 Be7 5.Nc3 O-O 6.Bd3 Nc6 7.cxd5 exd5 8.O-O
Nb4 9.a3 Nxd3 10.Qxd3 Bg4 11.Qe2 Ne4 12.h3 Nxc3 13.bxc3 Bf5 14.c4 dxc4
15.Qxc4 Be6 16.Qe2 c5 17.Bb2 Rc8 18.Rfd1 Bb3 19.Rdc1 f5 20.dxc5 Rxc5
21.Rxc5 Bxc5 22.Bd4 Bxd4 23.Nxd4 Bd5 24.Qc2 Qg5 25.g3 Qh5 26.Kh2 a6

Kc5 51.Qe7+ Kc4 52.Qc7+ Kb3 53.Qb6+

FINAL POSITION

[fen]8/7p/1Q6/p7/8/1k1q2PP/8/6K1 w - - 0 53[/fen]
Material is even but I overstep the Time control and lose on time here
kinda pisses me off actually because chasing the P10's K clear across the board just ate up my clock
I let the P10 ponder the final position for 2 minutes
after 6 Ply's it would play 53..Ka4 rating itself ahead +.58
what do the PC engines think ...im lost anyway or its a draw by perpetual check ?

Sore Loser Regards

Nice game Steve,

I believe this position is a draw; polgar at 10 Mhz plays like a 2100 fide rated player if we add the difference between the fide elo and the computer elo.

computer elo regards

Thanks Ricardo
looked like a draw to me too
i was still pissed i lost on time in what looked like an equal position so i decided to take my revenge out against the Polgar 5
this time i set the time for 10 Sec. per move and no time forfeits allowed
i gave the P5 White

[Date "2011.8.21"]
[White "MEPHISTO Polgar 5"]
[Black "Steve B"]
[Time Control "10 Sec.Per Move"]
[Result "1/2-1/2"]

1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bg5 Be7 5.cxd5 exd5 6.e3 Be6 7.Bd3 h6 8.Bxf6
Bxf6 9.Qb3 b6 10.Nf3 O-O 11.O-O Nc6 12.Qb5 Qd7 13.Rac1 a6 14.Qa4 b5
15.Qc2 Nb4 16.Qe2 Nxd3 17.Qxd3 Bf5 18.e4 dxe4 19.Nxe4 Qe6 20.Nxf6+ Qxf6
21.Qb3 Rac8 22.Rfe1 Be6 23.d5 Bg4 24.Rc6 Qf5 25.Rxa6 Bxf3 26.Qxf3 Qxf3
27.gxf3 Rfd8 28.Rd1 Ra8 29.Rxa8 Rxa8 30.Rc1 Rxa2 31.Rxc7 Rxb2 32.Rc5 Kf8
33.d6 Ke8 34.Rc7 b4 35.Re7+ Kf8 36.Rb7 Ke8 37.Re7+ Kf8 38.Ra7 Ke8
39.Re7+ 1/2-1/2

FINAL POSITION
[fen]4k3/4Rpp1/3P3p/8/1p6/5P2/1r3P1P/6K1 b - - 0 39[/fen]

Again material is even and yet again the Polgar 5 repeats the position

GrandMaster Draw Regards

Queen opening a very balanced game, maybe polgar for that time does not find anything better and plays the king move 3 times. For polgar at 5 Mhz you are playing for a fide rating somewhere between 2050.

good going regards

Hi Ricardo
Polgar had white
i played the K move 3 times
the draw was forced by Polgar who decided to repeatedly check me on e7
i guess i could have moved to Kd8 instead of Kf8 but i didnt want to start dropping the Kside pawns in an effort to promote the B pawn
Better Safe Then Sorry Regards

I also believe it was better not to drop the king side, could start losing pawns there.

2030 fide performance regards
