Almost 25 years ago on the 15th of september of 1985 in Amsterdam took place the 5th microcomputer chess championship. Novag had a machine that compete in that tournament that was called Blitzmonster, does anybody knows if this machine had later a comercial version?

Ricardo,

That is the Mephisto Amsterdam module for the Modular, Exclusive, etc boards.

You can play the Amsterdam in the MESS emulator from the 'mess.org' website.
The ROM image is on the 'emunews.eu' website.

You have to install MESS on your computer and then load the ROM images. A year ago I played the MM4 or MM5 and when I started the ROM, the picture of the real module appeared on the PC screen.

These are the available ROMS (last I have been on that website was an year ago so this info may have changed):

Amsterdam, Dallas, Glasgow, MM4, MM5, Rebel5, and Roma

Best regards,

Hi Kostea, are you sure that's right? I do remember in those days Novag's
classic machine, the Super Constellation, was nicknamed the blitzmonster,
which would have probably meant the following year's (1985) Novag Expert,
would have also had the same nickname, being more or less the same
machine in a wooden case.
The Amsterdam was a Morsch program as far as I know.

Larry,

Your post made me read again the original question, and I have just realized that somehow I missed it was about a Novag computer.
I have no idea which Novag was the blitzmonster.

Sorry for the confusion,

Kostea

PS The Amsterdam is a Richard Lang software

Hi. The Blitzmonster was the machine that hit the market under the name Novag Constellation Expert (but it was no monster at blitz...)

Yes, the Novag Constellation Expert is the "Blitzmonster" ... A prototype got the name in Nürnberg as several human players (i .e. V. Hort) lost against that machine.

The Constellation Expert has a better and stronger version of the Super Conny program inside. I really love that machine.

Sascha
