that is correct. You can only save the state and the game at the following Engines: Almeria, Portorose, Lyon, Vancouver & London.

There is no way to save the game like you can with the Polgar. But this is "only" a function ....

The program itself is 100% the same!

Steve B wrote:And So we begin comparing the emulation speeds in the Rev as compared to the actual modules
the speedup is dependent on the use of hash tables ,and the actual number of possible moves..so speedups will vary depending on the phase of the game(Opening, middle and endgame)
i tried a simple test in the opening phase..
for the 9 68000 processor Emulations(Glasgow to London)only the 68000 modules were tested and not the 020 or 030 modules

Test Methodology:
time it takes to complete a full x ply search after white plays 1.Nh3(or 1.Na3 depending on which move is not in the engines book)
there are 20 possible black replies
For Glasgow to Roma i used a full 5 Ply Search
For Almeria to London i used a full 6 Ply Search
For the Schroeder Emulations a full 8 ply Search
when switching between programs in the Rev ..Ram seems to be effected(see my post above about the HG550 book module)
as a result .. each test was performed by completely closing down the Rev after each test and loading a new program rather then just switching programs
each test result shown was performed twice for both the module and the emulation as a double check

of course a more accurate test would be all phases of the game for each module ..but as i work for a living this will have to do for now...when i am retired and living on a dessert island i will perform a more complete and accurate test

Rev-Glasgow.....595 Sec.
Glasgow Module.....3330 Sec.
speedup achieved...5.6x

Rev-Amsterdam.......470 Sec.
Amsterdam Module......1695 Sec.
speedup achieved...3.61x

Rev-Dallas.....575 Sec.
Dallas Module.....2040 Sec.
speedup achieved...3.55x

Rev-Roma......595 Sec.
Roma Module.......2075 Sec.
speedup achieved...3.49x

Rev-Almeria.....194 Sec.
Almeria Module.......597 Sec.
speedup achieved...3.1x

Rev-Portorose.....180 Sec.
Portorose Module.......538 Sec.
speedup achieved...3.0x

Rev-Lyon.....172 Sec.
Lyon Module.....510 Sec.
speedup achieved...2.97x

both 1.Nh3 and 1.Na3 are in the Vancouver and London's book so here the move sequence tested was 1.Na3 e5 2.Nb1
there are 30 possible black replies

Rev-Vancouver.....352 Sec.
Vancouver Module.....1395 Sec.
speedup achieved...3.96x

in preparation to test the London modules i was reminded of the fact that i do not own the London 68000 modules while i do own the 020 and 030 London modules
i therefore tested the speedup achieved against the London 68020 modules

Rev-London 68000.....264 Sec.
London 68020 Module.....451 Sec
speedup achieved...1.71x

For the Schroeder Emulations i tested the speedup's Achieved using a full 8 ply search
we are back to either 1.Na3 or 1.Nh3

Rev-Rebel 3.0......154 Sec.
Rebel 3.0 module......696 Sec.
speedup achieved....4.5x

Rev-MMIV......130 Sec.
MMIV module.....600 Sec.
speedup achieved...4.6x

Rev- MMV......154 Sec.
MMV module.....696 Sec.
speedup achieved...4.5x

Rev-Polgar.....145 Sec.
Polgar module.....615 Sec.
speedup achieved....4.25x

And Finally....a test of the Sisters Polgar after the move Sequence
1.Na3 e5 2.Nb1

Rev-Polgar.....330 Sec.
Polgar module.....1430 Sec.
speedup achieved....4.33x

Emulsifed Regards

The Phoenix Emulation Series for the Revelation I board and Resurrection II modules has now been expanded to include the
Novag Super Expert B(SEB) and Super Expert C(SEC)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/10261668@N ... 2195096455

Speedups achieved are about 3.5-4x
My SEB and SEC dedicated computers both run at 6Mhz
I will comparing the units to the emulations and posting the results when time permits

To determine the actual speed up achieved by the Phoenix SEB-SEC emulations i used the same position as in my testing of the Fidelity EAG V5
(Dual 68K Processor)

[fen]rnbqkbnr/pppppp1p/6p1/8/P7/8/1PPPPPPP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - 0 2[/fen]

In this position ..the time was noted to complete an 8 ply search ..move to be played (in parenthesis)

Phoenix Super Expert B emulation -73 seconds (Bg6)
Novag Super Expert B6-235 seconds(Bg6)
Speed up Achieved-3.21x

Phoenix Super Expert C emulation -89 seconds (d5)
Novag Super Expert C6-283 seconds(d5)
Speed up Achieved-3.18x

it should be noted that my SEB runs at 6 Mhz while there were SEB's sold at 5 Mhz so the speed up achieved would have been significantly greater

Out of curiosity i decided to play a game (1 Min./Avg.)with the Res-SEC Vs. the Novag Star Sapphire
Selective Search rates the Novag SEC 1957 and the Novag SS 2175
The SS is the highest rated computer Novag ever released for sale
i was wondering if the Jazzed up Rev-SEC running more then 3x faster then the actual computer could perhaps draw or win a game against its much stronger younger brother

Rev-SEC had white
SS was out of book first at move 13
the game saw all of the pieces come off the board leaving Rev-SEC with an inferior pawn position but not a lost position
then for no apparent reason.. on move 30 ..it sacked a pawn and its position and went down hill faster then an Olympic Slalom Gold Medalist

[White "Rev-Super Expert C"]

Using the same position above ...

Novag Scorpio (68000 Processor) takes 183 seconds to complete an 8 ply search and will play 2..Nf6

Rev-Diablo takes 63 seconds and will play 2..Nf6
Speed Up Achieved-2.90x

With the recent release of the Phoenix Rev-Diablo emulation,Curiosity got the best of me once again
Can the Juiced-up R-D ..running 3x faster then its dedicated counterpart.. overcome a huge deficit in Elo and at least draw a game against the mighty Star Sapphire i wondered?

Selective Search rates El Diablo 2002 ELO..a healthy 45 elo stronger then the Super Expert C but still a good 173 lower then SS(2175)
R-D had white ,opened with the English and was out of book first after move 4
It seemed the SS was intimidated by the "new look" Diablo and it offered to repeat the position at move 26 which S-D rejected out of hand ..thereby dismissing the draw offer and signaling its intent to go for the Gold
this insult rattled the higher rated SS which then set off a series of exchanges on move 32..resulting in the loss of its Q for R+N
This was all the advantage R-D needed to win putting on a clinic on Q vs R+minor piece play

[Date "2011.7.9"]
[White "Rev-Diablo"]
[Black "Novag Star Sapphire"]
[Time Control "1 Min. Per Move"]
[Result "1-0"]

27.Qe3 f4 28.Qe2 Ba4 29.Rd3 Kh8 30.Kg1 Rf5 31.Qb2 a5 32.Kh1 Rxe5 33.Rxe5 Qxe5

Re7 56.Kf4

FINAL POSITION

[fen]8/4rkp1/P2Qb2p/4P2P/5K2/5P2/6P1/8 w - - 0 56[/fen]

SS Resigns here..

So there we have it Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury
conclusive..undeniable proof..beyond all reasonable doubt.. that a 2000 ELO engine.. running at 3x its original speed can more then over come a 175 Elo deficit.. making the Rev-Diablo the strongest Novag/Kittinger dedicated chess computer of all time
