Is there a reason that you reduced one point from the baron?
0.5+0.5+0.5+1=2.5 and not 1.5 based on my knowledge.

Friday 3:
Just slept one hour and the phone rang. Someone from Holland who forgot I was in Beijing. 15 minutes before my alarm goes a knock on the door and the bell rings. A woman with a laundrybag. Yesterday I put some clothes in the bag for the 'laundryservice'. I want to take the bag from her, but that was not why she was there. She said "wate a momen", leaves and doesn't come back. Then the phone rings. Someone who does speak english tells me that the laundry is not ready yet. I knew that already, because I read somewhere that it would be delivered to your room after 4 in the afternoon. 1 hour later again a knock. Laundry is ready. Which was good, because I noticed I had no more socks left. I took 6 from everything except socks. No more time for breakfast, wasn't hungry
anyway. After a tough fight against the phone I finally managed to get the
upper hand. That thing plays much too fast. And also Rybka's moves came quickly. So I was waiting a long time for the next round. So when the tournament director asked if we wanted a break, I was the only one against. I waited long enough. I ordered a salad this time. I can't even look at warm food at the moment. In front of me they put a mountain of raw vegetables that would last an elephant a whole week. But no dressing. They only gave me some awfull tasting and smelling sauce. Why don't they have mayonaise here? Tomorrow is the big day. The last 2 rounds against number 2 and 3.
Never do something today, that someone else can do tomorrow. (Confusedius)

Hello, I'm a new poster here...

HIARCS seems like a very good program, I'm hoping I can get it to play with my open source engine.

Good work on making such a great chess engine.

Good luck on the tournament. Great reporting also, I enjoyed reading the chineese problems with diet / food / etc ;)

Next rounds: Black Hiarcs from white Rybka...
My guess:
Better chance: Ruy Lopez (some little know, etc. Smyslov variant) after 1.e4 and 1.-f5 (leningrad system) after 1.d4.

sounds like the match of the tournament...

#1 vs #2...

should be great :)

btw, has anyone used http://scid.sourceforge.net/ ? - its a nice system, and I have not tried to plug the HIARCS engine into it yet

The only way hiarcs can win the tournament is by defeating Rybka, or by expecting rybka to lose a game. Can hiarcs pull an upset???

Why is a draw against Rybka and a win not enough. Its not certain that Rybka will win against junior. Who win in the case both Rybka and Hiarcs end on 7.5 point?

In case of a draw one of those weird point systems decide the winner right? SB points?? Or that other one..

There will be a playoff tomorrow if it is a draw.
