Good morning my dear Friends,
I'm going to write in bullet points because they hit a sensitive spot.
1. I'm about to move into a new flat (I've decided at the age of 35 to commit my life to the bank for another few decades).
2. It has prompted me to get rid of (give away, throw away, sell) a lot of the junk I keep in my current rented flat. I'm a hoarder type: watches, vinyl records, 74 chess computers and so on.
3. I looked at my two Millennium Chess Genius (standard and PRO).
4. I thought: what do I need them for? I have stronger computers, nicer (wooden) ones so I'll sell them. Besides, the new ChessGenius 2024 came out and I'll buy it for myself one day.
5. But still, I feel an emptiness after all this time.
Is this some kind of disease entity?
Best,
larryadler

i feel your pain
never an easy decision to let go of a chess computer
while i have never sold a computer i did one time(about 15 years ago) trade a rare chess computer for a different rare computer....as it turned out a few years after the trade i could have acquired the computer i traded for...and to this day i am still looking for the computer i traded away
i deeply regret that trade to this day
Best Of Luck In Your New Home Regards
Steve

Hello Steve,
To make sure this "faux pas" doesn't happen to others, you have created Steve B's golden rule for the collector:
"NEVER Close A hole In the collection by opening up another hole" !
( https://hiarcs.net/forums/viewtopic.php ... eur#p91898 )
However, you probably have duplicates of values that might be of interest to an Empereur owner : spread the word.
Friendly.

When I emigrated from the UK to Tenerife 3 years ago, I downsized from a 4 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment. Had to sell most of my chess computers. It felt like my children were flying the nest

But the weather is better.
I did by chance a few holidays on gran canaria and was astonished about the weather there. Not too hot. Not cold.
Perfect.
I only knew spain main land before, that has changed into a very hot area.
I doubt that in 10-20 years you can still live in spain or france. They are so hot that living is impossible. No water. Always fire and if it rains everything is flooded.

Here we have a fairy tale of the day after tomorrow....
