I too weep for the UK's exit from the EU, paying customs duty on goods from the UK :(((

I don't know what it was for, but it was certainly to the great detriment of the chess computer community!

And returning to the hero of this topic, the first people are already getting their hands on this marvel. According to the information provided by Sascha (great that he is passing it on, it really allows you to live this event), the chessboards arrived in Germany last Friday.

All that remains now is for me to keep my fingers crossed that the brave team at Millenium will manage to put the sets together and make the shipment a little earlier than December 16. Unfortunately, I am worried about the shipping time and the fact that the courier will find my flat empty due to the Christmas trips.

It's such an anxiety of uncertainty, similar to the one where you don't know whether to play a draw or fight to win (I am currently playing such a game).

Greetings from snow-covered Cracow,

I got mine last week on saturday but did not have time to power it on. Luckily I got it for the reduced (new customer ) price that only was available for some hours, as we discussed some time before.

I hope I will have some time to compare the Phoenix to the Certabo DaVinci with the big display, and to the Pi solution based on the Raspery Pi4 and perhaps even to the Revelation II AE.

As the prices are really different, i would like to compare the different solution from the view of someone who is not a computer/Linux/Python/etc. specialist. And from a view of someone who is not a fanboy of any of the manufacturers.
I would like to verify , how complicated it is to get the solutions running for a normal User. How is the stability of the solution and what are the features.

I hope I will have the time over Christmas.

It would be interesting to compare Mephisto Phoenix with PicoChess V3 desktop.

Indeed,

A lot of similarities, we have windows engines running without a Remote Server now, maybe in a similar way to the Phoenix, we will see …

Mine should arrive today, but weirdly Postal Tracing shows it was 15 miles away in Dartford overnight, but is now 83 miles away in Southampton … strange.

with Pi solution based on the Raspery Pi4 i meant the PicoChess 3.1 WEB/Display Version.

No! To get the card, you have to open the device. On the software side, there are various mechanisms to protect the software. You can copy the card, but the copied card will not run in any other device or Phoenix.

That’s good, and as expected.

I’ll be making a backup of the micro sd card in case of any failures in the future. Especially as it can only be used in my machine.

I’ve have too many sd card & drive failures over the years so a backup is essential.

A backup will not work, even not in your machine ... and yes, I know how good you are. ;)
