Website Of My Collection Hits 1 Million Views

not sure if you can see the actual view stats...
this is what i see on my webpage when i log in...
total
1,000,234 Views

Now this might sound like an impressive milestone achievement... but in reality ..its far from it

Consider that i created the site in 2007 and it took 14 years to reach 1 million views
...
Compare that to todays internet connected world where a video of a dog pooping on the kitchen table can go viral... garnering millions of views in a few minutes...

Poop Matters Regards

Congratulations Steve,
The 1M count is also a measure of the popularity of chess computer collecting along with the popularity of this excellent website! :D

Congrats on hitting the 1M threshold Steve! Has the view count increased in a linear fashion over the years, or did you get a "Queen's Gambit" bump in views last year?

Interestingly, when I view your flickr "about" page, it is displaying 908.4K views?

Not to diminish your accomplishment, but the Baby Shark Dance video on YouTube has surpassed 9B views. Only 10,000x the traffic of your site.

Just a dime per view for you, that would be fine!

This is interesting. It now shows 909.4K views (an increase of 1K from earlier?).

I visited the site from a different browser on my computer (Firefox versus Safari), and Firefox is showing 909.5?

Possible explanations:
1. I'm not a pro user, so perhaps it is just provides us freeloaders with an approximation? Or doesn't count the Photostream or Album views?
2. This post is driving users to your flickr site today.
3. The numbers are just catching up here on the West Coast. (you know, just like the Times Square ball drops three hours later here)

Either way, your site is an amazing resource that I use frequently. Thanks for taking the time to share your collection with us.

a fourth possible explanation :
I am constantly viewing my own site as a visitor :)

just kidding!

anyway...
some stats :

The current view count, as of 20:57 PST, is now up to 911.4K!

I also viewed the CXG Chess Scholar multiple times using different browsers, but the view count remains @13.

Pulling for the underdog regards,

Congratulations on the million Steve!

Mine's approaching 2/3rds of that. At the present snail's pace it will take another seven years to reach the million page views.
Will I snuff out before that milestone is reached?
Maybe I should upload some dodgy videos and get there by Monday. 8)

One thing the website tells me is that there is still broad interest in the dedicateds. The interest doesn't seem to be diminishing. Page views have stayed in the same ballpark for 13 years. 187 countries (and territories) clocked so far.

Interesting the massive difference in numbers between the Wundermaschine and the Chess Scholar.

All the best

Hello Mike,

Knowing in detail some of these statistics, such as the most viewed chess computer, would be nice. ;-)

Hello Gerardo

The most viewed chess computer page on my website would have to be the Saitek Renaissance Sparc. That chess computer has charisma.
Beats even the Novag Robot Adversary. Over the 13 years the Fidelity Elite Avant Garde v.11 would come third though interest in that one has waned.
I don't have individual page view numbers going back, just last few days info.

Best wishes
Mike

Mike,

Your site is also a treasure trove of computer chess information. In addition to the machines, I especially enjoy the links to the publications. And of course the timeline!
