Re: Match Deep Hiarcs 15.2 vs Deep Hiarcs 15.3

I agree the match is too short. I would prefer the test with default settings - playing style Active not Aggressive There is no need to play a longer match. The engines are perfectly aligned, there is no need to change to Active - because it will not help. Ofc you need a longer match, it's b...

Re: Hiarcs 15.3

Just while we're on new HIARCS versions, has it moved to NNUE by any chance? It was quite a jump from 15.1 to 15.2

Re: Use your repertoire to play

Maybe we need "Play against current filter/database" feature? This will make the moves from the filter/database as long as there is any and then continue normally using book or engine? Wouldn't manually creating a book allow for more options, like controlling weights, easier exportation e...

Re: Use your repertoire to play

The repertoire function has been significantly updated on Fritz 19, but I'm talking about building a playable opening book. That is still the same I think. Me too, you just create a database with the games you want it to play and set White resp. Black in one of the fields: White, Black, Event, or S...

Re: Use your repertoire to play

Some time ago a few people raised the possibility of adding a feature to allow a user to build their own opening books. This would be a wonderful addition to the software and incredibly useful for OTB play as we hone our repertoires. I believe the Fritz / Chessbase implementation of this feature - ...

Chess Computer Repair UK

Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows of any dedicated chess computer repair people in the UK?

I recently acquired a London 68030 which is fun, but after 30 minutes it resets which makes me think it's a heat issue.

Many many thanks!

Re: New version HIARCS Chess Explorer Pro - changes

Here are the proposed changes that should be included in the program HIARCS Chess Explorer Pro: - add tablebase Gaviota - add the ability to play different tournaments between engines - Swiss, Round Robin, Gauntlet - add the ability to set moves from the opening book - add latest engine Deep Hiarcs...

Re: A beautiful gift for Mac users

The security on MacOS these days is a pain the backside. However, following the steps above it does work. I'd recommend replacing the default net with the T78 big net. On my M2 MacBook Air I get a whopping 300 nps (yes literally three hundred nodes per second. It's like going back to the 1980s), but...

Re: New Feature Request: own books

Please make it useful for those who use HCEP for playing human - comp. games. This is a missing feature in all the programs I have looked at. While the book used by the engine (Hiarcs) is very good for general play, you sometimes need a book for training before a tournament. Exactly. One's own book...

New Feature Request: own books

Given that HCE has great book functions already for its own books, a useful new feature would be to be able to build books for oneself. The UI could then give lots of options like stats / number of positions in book (and number of positions per variation) as well as play % for engine v engine use.

Yes but when a tree can take 3-4 months to build a reduction in search time is a massive win.

Re: Deep Position Analysis Suggestion(s)

+1 This is a very good start and super useful for players preparing for a tournament. The point of building up this mini-maxed tree is that you get thousands of hours of analysis at your fingertips instantly as you scroll through opening variations. There's no waiting for the engine to compute - it ...
