Hi, I'm running Hiarcs Chess Explorer on my Mac, and have tried installing various versions of Rodent without success - getting a message "not a valid UCI engine". So I wondered is it a problem with Hiarcs, Rodent or me? Anyone out there who has tried this combination?

All sorted, looks like it was user error.

I've bitten the bullet and purchased it, 9 February. Unfortunately it won't start up, I've reported it to hiarcs@hiarcs.com but still awaiting response.

I'm reading a lot from the fact that there is no reply yet.......

I'd like to know too please, as just bought a Mac and don't want to purchase 1.9 if it's going to be superseded.

And I've just read that the Unblock option doesn't appear unless the file is blocked.

Thanks Harvey but oddly "Unblock" doesn't show as an option on my system, even under the tab Security. And it works under Arena so presumably the Windows has passed it as OK.

Is it possible to configure an installed UCI engine (other than Hiarcs) to use an opening book under HCE? Seems a simple request and perhaps I am missing something.
