Re: Tasc tutor & Chessica cd 2

As for the other way to run these old programs that we Love without usiing dosbox and win 3.1,I I`m all ears! please go ahead and tell us how to d o it! Well, there's a small, powerful tool called 'otvdm' that allows you to directly run 16bit WIndows programs in 64bit Windows. It just uses the 16bi...

Re: Tasc tutor & Chessica cd 2

The program runs, but I cant make the pieces move. I'll keep trying. Hi, there's an option 'Anticipate' in Chessica which makes the program almost unusable - it's usually called 'Permanent Brain' or 'Ponder', but when this option is activated, the program is responding VERY slowly to any mouse clic...

Re: Saitek Kasparov Brute Force

Hi,

it would be great if we could get a ROM dump of the Brute Force module!
It's the only module that is still missing in the CB-Emu chess emulation.

Franz

Re: Mephisto Chess Genius London

How long did it take you to do this Well, I've started with CB-Emu about 9 years ago, it's a special version (only for chess computers) of the general emulation system MAME/MESS. Since a few years it's a teamwork, mainly by 'Berger', 'hap' and me, but also some other people have made contributions ...

Yes, these are exact emulations (using the original ROM programs), so the play 100% identical to the real machines.

Re: Mephisto Chess Genius London

Not sure if most people off this board know that you can get all the retro emulations all free from a computer chess site on Facebook providing you have a windows laptop or PC not available for a MAC Well, I'm not using Facebook, but I guess this is just the program CB-Emu_Pro from my website https...

Well, alleged program errors have always been an excuse for incorrect operation... ;)

Re: Philidor/Parker Chess for PC (1983)

I do not understand fully what you ask from me or what you believe I am doing. I do no pretend to sell nothing, just to help a guy here with something that you yourself give -thanks for that!-, so no damage to anyone, BUT if for some reason that disturbs you, I will NOT send anything to this pal an...

Re: Engines, Emulation - Mess

The question is: As for the engine emulation of the dedicated machines, I always had doubts about the performance of the emulation compared to the originals that run on the dedicated machines. As I do not understand programming, I am not able to give a solid opinion, that is, when I play against an...

What about creating a "bootable ISO" with this and let people use it in any VM they want and/or create a USB bootable stick ? Why a bootable CD/ISO? In the link of the 1st posting here there's a boot-HD image in the package Chess-DOS-VM_Top10.zip, so everyone who wants to use it in any ot...

A few years ago, on a now dead chess forum, I saw something similar. It was DOS programs, including the batch file (config.sys and autoexec.bat). They were on a bootable USB stick in MS-DOS. The difference between an emulator and this bootable stick was speed. From usb, the dos programs were runnin...

I asked that because I have a lot of DOS games both in D-Fend and in Qemu. Not sure which to use to get the maximal strength. I suppose I could do some test, but I prefered to ask which definitively is faster than to test.... Well, Qemu is definitely faster than DosBox - how much depends on the pro...
