Here's believing he is fine, of course.

Though, it's odd that he hasn't renewed his web-site's domain that was due last October. I can't imagine the time he put into that, and for the few dollars it costs to register.. He must be really busy.

Crazy thing: I decided to keep it. I opened it up to fix the battery issue, didn't really have a hope to magically fix the voice / teaching / etc. The battery issue is a complete mystery: all the wires are perfect, everything ohms out like you'd expect, but it will not be powered by battery! I put i...

For what it's worth: The website led to a name, the name to a location and business. No obituaries for that name in that location. Business information led to a transfer and different position for that name in another location half way across the U.S. No obituaries at that location either. My google...

A little goog-fu shows his website's (spacious-mind.com) registration expired in October and has not been renewed. The last activity was just before it expired October 2015 when it was renewed.

Yeah, that's the thing: this one is broken. As it's powered on, you can hear the speakers "pop" a bit, and the volume is up.. But it can't be powered by batteries and .. .well.. the only way to describe it is the chip that isn't chess is not functioning. Power on? Nothing.. no voice. but i...

Sorry! One more question regarding "broken" chess

As mentioned, I purchased a "new" (broken) Saitek Kasparov Chess Academy Talking Chess Computer Stock Model K05V for $75 (U.S.) on ebay. My question is: do you smart folks think it's worth keeping? Short version: It can't currently be powered by batteries (can be by "mains" adapt...

Sorry, didn't see a way to edit my earlier message..

Does anyone have a Saitek Kasparov Chess Academy Talking Chess Computer they'd be willing to part with? I love mine, except that it doesn't work. :)

Let me know how much if you have one!

Thanks.
Jeff

Chess computer "oddity" - it only works half-way

I purchased a "new" Saitek Kasparov Chess Academy Talking Chess Computer Stock Model K05V for $75 on ebay. Got it, and the pieces were new and still in the plastic, but I'm not sure the unit itself was. I know it didn't come with the AC adapter as it should. Anyway, brand new and tested ba...

Youtube reviews of chess "computers" - Can you add

As I've gotten into researching and exploring all that is out there, I've come to realize that only a few of the classic chess computers are on youtube with thoughts and reviews. If there is any chance some of you (with your massive collections) would want to add to the available, that would be pret...

wow, looks like you can learn a lot from this thing: including studying various openings, etc. Since half the fun of a new toy is reading the instructions and I found these online, I'll post them for anyone with a free few hours. :) https://www.chesshouse.com/v/vspfiles/manuals/CT06V-TalkingChessAca...

Thank you all! I found a new Saitek / Kasparov Talking Chess Academy for $80 shipped on ebay so I picked that up.

From the sounds of this board it won't be my last.. chess computers must be like potato chips: you can't have just one. :)

Thanks for the reply. Rating? Probably too low to be currently calculated. :) I'm sure the very first chess computer would stomp me handily in my current state. :) You bring up excellent points and things I haven't considered. So, is it better to just bite the bullet and get a "modern" set...
