Stefan's reply to our query: the opening advisor is an engine feature, not a gui feature. This is why it has no influence on the gui book moves when book moves are played from the gui. With the advisor Shredder will still think about his moves but will get some hints in some positions. Those hints ...

Re: Old and new programm versions on the old hardware
Hello, do you think that old version of chess program can perform better then newest versions on the old hardware i.e. 1 core 2 GHz ? Thanks in advance for all opinions. Rgds Hetman Yes I think so. One of the most telling things is that Resurrection Rybka is being beaten by Pocket Hiarcs in SSDF te...

Is there a reason that you reduced one point from the baron?Watchman wrote:Round 7
0.5+0.5+0.5+1=2.5 and not 1.5 based on my knowledge.

If -only IF- I purchase the thing, it will be the convetka stuff due to Aquarium GUI. I cannot bear the idea of just another engine running in just CB gui. I want novelties. Certainly I will not purchase the bare engine in Rybka site. No more bare engines for me, ever. In fact probably I will prefe...

personally i can understand the somewhat ambivalent feelings of the Rybka fans who were there from the beginning the Maverick engine that came out of nowhere now suddenly part of the mainstream as an aside i am personally happy to see Jeroen finally with his own product in addition to being the wor...

Re: The Preposterous Quest for the "Stronger" engi
It causes me a laugh when I see those posts of people discussing about the 3 more elo points this engine has OR asking an stronger engine OR yelling in delirium because a new version of this engine or that will be 30 elo points stronger. I perhaps could understand that from the part of a SGM, 2700 ...

The leader of the ssdf list lost 29.5-10.5 Does it mean that rybka is going to lose the first place in the ssdf list? Note that I know that the hardware is not equal and I know that 2.32 was tested but based on reading results I never read results of rybka2.32a or results of rybka on better hardware...

I don't think that any programs will be getting around 3200 elo this decade. If you restrict it to computer-computer competition, than it will happen, but I think that the best programs of 2010 would not really score noticeably higher in 100-game matches against the world's top humans than they wou...

Neither Morphy or even the incomparable World Champion, Bobby Fischer would win a game against the latest version of Rybka. I am starting to feel that there is something strange about all that Rykba marketing... I read minutes ago in anther forum (talk chess or so, I am not registered there) that a...

I also do not think that fast code is the only advantage that strelka has relative to computer opponents. So, do you think that something else obvious is there (the 'secret'), and that can be applied to other engines to make them a lot more stronger? My guess is yes My guess is that there are searc...
