I think now in order to bring balance to the argument published on chessbase by Dr Soren Riis, chessbase should also publish Dr David Levy's responce to the allegations made in Soren's ealier reports. I see it unlikely that this will occur given that they failed to publish almost nothing of the Rybk...

I recomend to read this article by Soren Riis: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=7807 http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=7811 it shows that the evolution of chess software changed since Fruit came up. Soren's article has absolutely nothing new in it and many factual errors ...

Yes thanks Harvey for that. Well having watched all of it, a few things stand out in my eyes, 1) Vas must have been living on another planet for the last 6-12months, he didn't even know it was Fabien who complained against him and seemed unaware of a few other points Nelson made. 2) When asked what ...

In the majority of cases the truth eventually comes out and it is nice to see that it is the case here. I hope this sets a precedent to all who think of plagiarising the hard work of others is acceptable. Congratulations to all the real world champions from the previous years!! Being a Hiarcs man i ...

Thank you and bravo to team Hiarcs for this one! If getting 4 book updates a year for the Hiarcs engine wasn't enough, then the new human reference book surely is the icing on the cake. I will definately be using it in my own over the board play to check a few of my favourate lines and hopefully int...

great clips!! One of my favourate moments is Spassky lighting up a cigarette in his 1982 FIDE world cup match against Karpov! Different times as well as health regulations back then! Also in John Nunn vs Seirawan; i've never seen hair like john's in all my life! Just wish there was something like th...

Picture of Harvey in a chessbase article

Whilst looking over the lastest chessbase articles today i stumbled upon a photo with Harvey in when he attended the 2010 london chess classic. The article was on John Nunn and his championship problem solving skills as well as his deep interest in astronomy. Article can be found here: http://www.ch...

It is quite clear that no one out of the Blue can come and write a 3000+ elo chess program. Why did it take so long to figure this out , and why the complaint to ICGA now ?? This should have been done 2 years ago. The "thing " is not even a complete chess program because it not underpromot...

http://www.open-chess.org/download/file.php?id=272 is worth a read. A new version updated yesterday. The document concerning a comparison of Rybka 1.0 Beta and Fruit 2.1 has been reworked to some extent. There has been a re-shifting of sections, more links/pointers to code locations, and some addit...

Vishy had a quick draw against Grischuck today and so is on 4.5/6, doing rather nicely. Carlsen seems to have woken up and added another win to be 3.5/6. I have to say though the person im rooting for is England's Luke Mcshane who added yet another win by opening with an unusual sicilian grand prix ...

Interesting article! Looking forward to the next interview.

Hope Mark is enjoying the new computer. Dont know what the capacity of the '3 intel SSDs' are but i bet you can get some good storage onto those making them very handy for all 6 piece endgame tablebases given the near intant access.
