Wow Harvey - that's fast!

I'm still very pleased with my MacBook setup though - I can play a 2h+ game anywhere just on battery juice - pretty neat!

Very neat article - your systems sound very expensive - I didn't even realise you could get a 24-core PC! I assume Windows? Using Stockfish 2.0.1 for a Mac (I use a MacBook dual-core) I get around 1200k/sec at the starting position - I imagine the machines you are using are many 10s of times faster ...

Hiarcs 12.3 for iPhone

I have just updated my Hiarcs iPhone app to 12.3 - all appears to work as it did before. Is there any place to look to see what the changes were?

Mark, Another excellent update - I have tested on my own favourite positions I have collected over the years and can confirm 13.2 shows improvement over the previous release. As you may remember, I use Hiarcs to analyse chess positions I am struggling with and this means that Hiarcs has to perform a...

Back from my hols and see that this game has moved on a pace! When I left we were waiting for Tony's first move and trying to decide on what to play - I see the majority went for a Sicilian then! :-)

Hi Folks, As a qualified GM, Tony will be well versed in many lines. However, should he decide to play 1.e4 then you might want to consider the modern (rossolimo variation), i.e., 1... g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.c4 d6 4.Nf3 Bg4!? 5.Be2 (this is the best way to defend) Nc6 (more pressure on d4) 6.Nbd2 Nf6 (black ...

Thanks everyone for the game and for your acceptance of my draw offer.

I would like to participate in the game versus Tony although I will be away between 3-17 April.

Again, many thanks for the game.

Kind regards,
David

Hi Folks,

Then I continue 38.Ng5 (H12 suggested two possible lines of continuation - 38.Ng5 and 38.Ne5)

Good morning folks, Sorry about the delay in answering, away most of yesterday. While I'm on the subject of leave I'm away next week (fly out to NI Mon night, back Wed night) also I have a holiday planned from 3-17 April. I would be very happy to provide my reasoning behind my moves and my assessmen...

Hi Folks,

Yep, early response as both H12 and I expected this - in fact we offer you the following conditional: 35.axb6 cxb6 36.Ke2 a5 37.Kd2

Now, where are you going to put your Bishop g6 or perhaps b3 or perhaps you have a better line than the one offered?

Hi Folks, Now back from sunny London - although cloudy as least it's not raining here in Yorkshire! Well it has to be said, my playing partner and I are feeling a bit of pressure! :-( We both accept the line offered yet we have a slightly different view on how best to continue. I know H12 is very go...
